When a stock leaves the index, every slot still holding it rolls into the stock that replaces it, at the close before the change takes effect, the same moment index funds trade. If you would rather choose, swap it yourself before then. If there is no replacement, or you already hold it, the slot becomes cash and you pick a stock with a daily order. New members are buyable from their effective date. Changes appear here as soon as the index provider announces them.
